Windows XP normal "Boot" ( not RESUME ! )  after PC is "HIBERNATED" overnight ?
(... I have researched and have not been able to locate a similar problem by others ... )The "Hibernation" feature appears to be setup properly on my PC,as I can activate the feature both manually ( from Wdws shutdown menu) and automatically (in power settings). In Testing the hibernation feature: (After a successful "Hibernation") When I press the Power-ON button on the case, the expected"Resuming Windows" status-bar is displayed;and the PC correctly "resumes" from the hibernation. But, the next morning ...(after a successful automatic HIBERNATION the evening before),when press the ON button, the PC "REBOOTS" Windows rather than the expected "RESUMING WINDOWS".How can I fix this issue or diagnose the causes ?regards, OTnote: this PC is on a network and needs to be hibernated for "wake on LAN" to succeed..............................................................................DEll Dimension 4600 P4, 3Ghz, 2.5Gb Windows XP SP-3 Trendnet Gigabit Adapter: TEG-PCITXR1 person got this answerI do too

Hopefully that will be your last post, oldtechy. Your lack of manners is appalling. Please refrain from responding as it will only confirm what is obvious.

... Soution ....... get to your Network Adapter Properties form ... a) from control Panel : click: System ; click hardware ; Click Device Manager ... RT. click : your Network Adapter ; click : Properties ...or b) from control Panel : Network Connections / RT. click : your Network Adapter ; click : Properties / click: Configure tab once on your network adapter's properties form ...next .... Click the Power Management tab ...Depending on your initial settings, the following process may need to be repeated more than once ...note : you want to end up with the following final settings :[ENABLED/CHECKED] Allow the computer to turn off this device ....[ENABLED/CHECKED] Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby ....In my case, I had to ... [ SET ... RESET ... SET ] theabove properties two (2) times, (Re-Booting in between) in order to obtained the desired results ... regardsOTnote: I strongly suggest that you confirm/install/reinstall the latest drivers v for your network-adapter before using this fix.note2: this fix is only for when your system already, correctly enters and resumes from hibernation .... ... but appears to 'forget" it is hibernated the next morning....
